Went in here to get some Christmas cards but bought a lot more than I expected to. Great choice of good quality stationery and gifts. I bought another 12 Christmas cards which were beautiful.
It was not particularly reasonably priced but definitely good quality.
This is a tried and tested reliable outlet that has stood the test of time. Providing good service. A wide range of stationary and reading material, from recipe books to Altlas's and cards to suit all occasions. It also offers a post office service at the rear of the shop which is handy. Staff are warm.and friendly and the service is very good.
Great location being the centre of town staff friendly and helpful wide range of books stationery & daily papers. There is a post office at the rear and no matter the time of the day it's always busy so expect a little wait for service but the staff are always welcoming and friendly
When in town i can grab a selection of magazines with wool for crafting, a few stamps for bithday cards at the same place now as im buying them and i can even get bewildered at electronic gadgets my kids use like wireless headphones and magic doorbells that say I'm in when I'm shopping in town. Yes good old Smith's is moving with the times
Very over priced but do always have a good selection of sale stuff, having the post office as part of the shop is the only thing that brings more people in for business. Avoid using this post office if you can as its the worst one I have ever come across be prepared to wait at least 29mins before you can get to the counter
Cards are very expensive! I bought four and they cost over £13! Lovely choice of gifts and books. Guy serving on till was really nice and friendly and chatty.
Great stationary, newsagents, book, card, arts and crafts, educational material, and Post Office services shop. Bright and clean, well set out in each department and well stocked. All sorts of specialist genre's of magazines available, and good variety of books including things like travel guides, cook books and fiction and great stock of children's books including educational material and workbooks for GCSE's and STATS, and general foundation subjects such as English, Science, Maths and Languages. Great
Back to School stationary available with wide variety of stock..from pens to pencil cases and lever arch files. Arts and Crafts department includes sketching materials, pastels, charcoal, acrylics, watercolour, oil paints and brushes. Sketch pads and small canvases also available. Good children's arts and crafts stock with wide variety of materials. Wide arrangement of top quality greetings cards. Paypoint and parcels/general Post Office counters available in store, offering all Post Office services in opening hours. Not always open though, so dont presume that because shop is open the Post Office will be. I personally, like to have a general look around at the stock available, and have found it extremely helpful when looking for specialist and good quality stationary and magazines. I find the items a little over priced personally, and you can purchase the same stock in a cheaper, bargain, stationary shop like The Works situated in the Pyramids in Birkenhead, just a short walk away, but with WH Smith's you pay extra for good quality items. The staff are friendly and helpful , theres always lots of stock out to look at and purchase. Theres usually queues at the Post Office counters, but theyre not too long a wait. Great all round, established, statiionary shop with good quality materials and books available to purchase.
Only reason i go to WHSmith is for the post office which is always understaffed, they have had a sign saying that they are short staffed due to sickness for over a year, always a long queue of people who are there to fill in forms, they should have a section for paperwork and one for post just like they have the Bureau where customers can just cut in the que! WHSmith is quite expensive but do have quality stuff, The Works is better for similar stuff at a cheaper price.
